One of the most used bridges along the American River in Rancho Cordova is the foot bridge just down river from the Sunrise Avenue traffic bridge. It has been under water recently and had to have the side rails replaced. It is used by many people everyday and was very missed when the river flooded over it. 360 – Fair Oaks Bridge over the American River
I was hoping to see more of the river on this hike but it was great exercise. This trail has some great views of the area and the river canyon. At times this trail can be very rocky and steep and dusty. The lake level was much higher than I have seen for quite some time.
This was my most strenuous hike yet. I didn’t plan it to be but I didn’t know I was going to hike on the wrong side of the river. After going so far I didn’t want to go back the way I came since I could see a trail on the South side. But I had to go farther up river than I realized before I could cross it without getting into water above my knees. The beauty is all around you though and hard to convey.
