I took this picture on September 7th of 2015 just up river from the Salmon Falls Rd bridge on the edge of the South Fork of the American River. These 2 were taken the same day just down river from the same bridge. I saw this water wheel on Google Maps and wanted to see if it was still there. Sure enough it was. Overlooking the Palladio in Folsom, Ca. In the distance the small plane acrobats are practicing for the Capital City Airshow. And the sun sets the sky a glow. On another night the sun is setting over the Nimbus Dam. It’s time to go home. As the sun sets on another day.
I was hoping to see more of the river on this hike but it was great exercise. This trail has some great views of the area and the river canyon. At times this trail can be very rocky and steep and dusty. The lake level was much higher than I have seen for quite some time.
This was my most strenuous hike yet. I didn’t plan it to be but I didn’t know I was going to hike on the wrong side of the river. After going so far I didn’t want to go back the way I came since I could see a trail on the South side. But I had to go farther up river than I realized before I could cross it without getting into water above my knees. The beauty is all around you though and hard to convey.
For Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge I took a little different route, I am using this as sort of a study of which pictures look better as color or b/w. What do you think?

This is a nice trail right in the center of Folsom that is very near the hustle and bustle but can be peaceful and tranquil.
